SCHOOL VISITS
AND AUTHOR APPEARANCES

Presenting at the Los Angeles Public Library

I've been visiting schools
for fifteen years.
I love to get kids excited about
reading and writing.
I love to show them how
my childhood passions
turned into books.
•  How do I get my ideas?
•  How do I write manuscripts and get them published?
•  What advice do I have for future authors?

My presentations cover these topics and more. Students get a behind-the-scenes look (via Powerpoint,
and exhibits) at the publication process, including the fun of research, the challenges of revision, and working with illustrators and editors.

Upon request, I can adjust my presentations to emphasize writing topics that are being taught in the classroom,
and offer workshops in creative and/or informational writing.
In addition to school visits, I've spoken on panels and
offered sessions at several conferences, including
CRA, CSLA, SCBWI, and CATESOL. I've also participated in writing panels at colleges and writing organizations.
